Constellation

Second Sight Visuals had been exploring mirrored sculpture mapping for many years. To take this concept to the next level, Brian connected with fellow light artist Carolina Perez-Moreno after discovering her amazing sculptures. Through a completely virtual collaboration, Brian and Carolina brought both of their strengths together to premiere an entirely new installation resulting in a great example of how light can connect across distance and fuel creativity.
 

Constellation is a collection of dimensional star forms created with polished metal and dichroic film. The reflective, almost mirror-like quality of the polished metal allows the stars to catch, distort, and multiply light, transforming the wall and surrounding space into something more alive and atmospheric. 
 

Dichroic film is used to introduce shifting color into the artwork. Dichroic surfaces never appear fixed; they are constantly transforming, which connects deeply with the artists’ interest in perception and internal experience. In this work, color and reflection become a way of making the invisible feel tangible: movement, emotion, energy, and the quiet magic of looking closely.
 

The artists views light as a tool for wonder, healing, and reconnection and are fascinated by how light can alter a person’s emotional state: how a reflection on a wall, a shifting color, or a glowing surface can momentarily interrupt everyday life and bring us back into a sense of awe. With Constellations, the artists wanted to create an environment where the stars feel both physical and immaterial, like objects that belong to the wall but also expand beyond it through projection, reflection, and movement.
